Riyad Mahrez becomes Algeria's second all-time top scorer

With his 2 goals against Sudan on Wednesday, Riyad Mahrez became Algeria’s second all-time top scorer with 36 international goals, level with Abdelhafid Tasfaout and behind only Islam Slimani.

The Algeria captain opened the scoring in the 2nd minute of the match before adding a second early in the second half to take his all-time tally to 36 goals. Mahrez is now level with Abdelhafid Tasfaout, but still 11 goals behind Algeria’s all-time top scorer Islam Slimani, who has 47 international goals.
