Algerian league tops CAF's African rankings for the 2022-23 season
The Algerian Ligue 1 finished as the highest ranked league in Africa during the 2022-23 season based on CAFβs rankings. The Algerian league finished ahead of the Egyptian league in second place and the Moroccan league in third place. The South African and Tanzanian leagues rounded out the top 5.
The Algerian league finished the season with 55 points: 25 points earned by USM Algiers, who won the CAF Confederation Cup, and 15 points each earned by Chabab Belouizdad and JS Kabylie for reaching the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League. The Egyptian League finished the season with 52.5 points, while the Moroccan league was third with 50 points.
This is the 2nd time in the past 3 years that the Algerian league has finished as the top league in Africa, after also finishing in first place in 2020-21.
